We have discovered that the PowerMill 2019 and PowerMill 2020 security fixes introduce a problem that stops printing from working correctly. For this reason we have removed these security fixes from availability for the time being. The problem does not affect PowerMill 2018 and so that security fix remains available.

For people that have already applied the security fix to PowerMill 2019 or PowerMill 2020 and are experiencing the problem with printing, the issue can be worked around by taking the following steps:

  1. Using Windows File Explorer, navigate to the folder that PowerMill has been installed to. This is usually C:\Program Files\Autodesk\PowerMill 2019\sys\exec64 or C:\Program Files\Autodesk\PowerMill 2020\sys\exec64 for PowerMill 2019 or PowerMill 2020 respectively.
  2. Locate the file named DGSPrintSettings.dll.
  3. Rename DGSPrintSettings.dll to DGSPrintSettings_renamed.dll. You will need Windows administrator privileges to do this.

I would like to apologise for any issues this problem has caused.

Hello,

i can not install the Securitx fix. When I do so, the update is still shown in the Desktop App.

Any suggestions how to fix the problem?

Hello @m_ohm . Can you please provide some more detail on what you mean when you say you can not install the security fix? Screenshots will probably help. Thank you.

Hello,

when i hit the "update" button an error message during the installation process (poped up from Desktop App) is shown:

"You need to take care of an installation to continue."

And then nothing happens.

I read abot the 2018.0.1 Hot fix issue, but the hotfix is installed.

Hello @m_ohm . Thank you for the screenshot, that really helps. Can you tell me whether you've tried restarting your computer as that may help in this situation?

Another thing to try is to download the update from your Autodesk Account: https://manage.autodesk.com/cep/#products-services/updates . But please realise that the fix you're having trouble with is for the Autodesk Data Exchange Utility, which is separate from the main PowerMill application fix.

The PowerMill 2019.0.1 and 2020.0.1 security fixes have been replaced by the release of PowerMill 2019.0.2 and PowerMill 2020.0.2 security fixes. These again fix the potential vulnerability issue but without introduce the problem that stops printing from working correctly. See https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/powermill-forum/autodesk-powermill-2019-0-2-and-2020-0-2-security-fix....
