Hello @Wap_lexun. To check my understanding, leads were present in the initial calculation but were lost after applying a Move Start Points edit? Would it be possible to send me the project please to help me understand what is causing this? Thanks.

Thanks @Wap_lexun . Apologies for the delay in replying.

From the toolpath history, I can see you have used the command

edit toolpath <name> extract_long_segment

The problem is that this command seems to result in the removal of data that is needed to add the leads on this kind of toolpath.

Would it be possible to apply the Move Start Points edits before the extraction command?

I am very happy to see your answer, so why does the 2021 version use this command, and then move the starting point, without losing the cut-in and cut-out?

Hi @Wap_lexun When I tried this with a Model Profile toolpath in PM 2021 I got the same result as seen in PM 2023, i.e. after using the extract command, the leads were not added when using Move Start Points. I would expect this result with any of the 3D Area Clearance or Curve Machining strategies. Were you using a Model Profile toolpath in PM 2021 as well?

Thanks.

I am very happy with your test. I have two identical toolpath map files, which are tested by 2023 and 2021 respectively. 2021 has leads, please check if it is a bug in 2023

Hi @Wap_lexun . Apologies again for the slow response.

Thanks for the data. This has helped me get a better understanding of what is happening.

In PowerMill 2023.0, if I take the PM 2023 project and clone the toolpath and re-calculate it with 'Automatically replay edits' selected (on the History page), I get a toolpath to which Move Start Point edits can be applied.

But, if I were to 'manually' re-create the toolpath step-by-step, i.e. calculate the toolpath, then apply the limit, then the extraction (which creates a new toolpath and seems to reset the leads to 'None', so I had to re-instate them), and then try to apply the Move Start Points edit it fails.

I think what is happening is that 'replaying the edit history' of the toolpath produced by extraction (which has a complete history) works because the edits are 'packaged' in one group and the data I referred to is not being removed in that case. But, if the edits are applied individually, the data is removed.

I am investigating further to confirm this but given the delay in my response, I just wanted to let you know that this is being looked at.

Thanks.
