Using a Faro Edge to laser scan with powerinspect 2025

I am attempting to use my Faro Edge to scan with powerinspect 2025. The Faro connects perfectly fine, both the laser scanner and point probe calibrate with no issues. I can use the point probe perfectly fine but for some reason the laser wont take any points. Its a LLP 7372 laser. I've tried to scan by making a new point group and then adding a point cloud. When I come to use the scanner the laser works perfectly fine and the rangefinder from powerinspect comes up and also works perfectly fine. The range finder initially says that I'm collecting points but the number of points keeps fluctuating up and down as if its glitching. Also when I move the faro out of the range finder it says there are no points collected. When I click the little plus sign next to the point cloud it should tell me that I have collected scanlines and it says there isn't any. Have I missed clicking something before trying to scan ? This is my first time using powerinspect so I'm unfamiliar with the software.

Do I have to load a laser scanner probe head into the machine tab ? I have tried changing the type of probe head in the software but there is not an option of a laser scanner. Would I be able to get an .mtd* file for my Faro.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can't find much about people using Faros with powerinspect online and I'm struggling a little :slightly_smiling_face:

In the unlikely event that anyone has a similar problem the solution is pretty easy. I had PowerInspect Ultimate 2025 open when I needed to have PowerInspect Ultimate Manual 2025 open instead. When you download PowerInspect itll be set at default for the first one which is used with CNC machines. To find manual if you search for Powerinspect in file explorer the manual version should come up then just pin it to your desktop. Everything else worked fine then and the scanning works as expected.  :smiling_face_with_smiling_eyes:
