Hi Agus,

Thanks for contacting the Autodesk support team via the Forum.

So PowerInspect 2017 and newer does still support  MS excel 2010 (64bit and 32bit ).

I believe this is your problem:

Symptom: Add-in compiles normally, but PI throws “Error in Excel” when trying to set up Excel document template.

Reason: For some reason PI add-in is disabled in Excel.

Solution: Go to Excel->Main menu button->Excel Options->Add-ins. Check if PI add-in really disabled there. If so, in add-in management combo-box select “Excel add-ins”, press “Go…” button, in new dialog select tick against PI add-in and press “OK”.

I would strongly recommend you upgrade the latest versions of MS Excel in order to benefit from using having compatibility with Excel templates going forward as newer versions of PowerInspect are released

As an aside, PowerInspect 2017 also does not support any 32bit  hardware drivers anymore so if your using hardware that contains 32bit drivers then this needs upgrading. This is because all of our hardware protocols are now 64bit only.

If you decide to upgrade to MS Office 2013 64bit then you may also see this error :

Symptom: Add-in throws “Compile error in hidden module” message box and doesn’t compile. If someone go into add-in and open Tools->References window, “MSCOMCTL.ocx” will be missing there.

Reason:

1. MSCOMCTL.OCX is not registered properly.

2. For some reason add-in tries to find MSCOMCTL.OCX in System32 folder while it's registered in SysWOW64.

Solution:

1. Try to manually register MSCOMCTL.OCX.  type the following    C:\>regsvr32 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSCOMCTL.OCX

2. If 1. didn't help, copy MSCOMCTL.OCX from SysWOW64 to System32 and register it there.  type the following    C:\>regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\MSCOMCTL.OCX

*****You need to run the Command Prompt as administrator before registering the file.*****

If you decide to upgrade to MS Office 2016 64bit then you should not have any errors.

If this answers your question please mark this as a "Accept as Solution"

Kind Regards
