Show different content in drawing tab

Hi Guys,

Is it possible to switch the content of  a drawing tab? I like to create a mode similar to the block editor. Instead of the document's database content, the content of another database should be visible. I assume I can do something with the AcGs stuff. But I don't know where to start. Any idea?

Thanks in Advance,

Martin

Ok. Seems like nobody has an idea. Maybe someone can tell me where I can find informations about the AcGs classes and functions? I found nothing except the api reference.

Thanks in advance,

Martin

The ObjectARX Reference Guide (<ARXDIR>\docs\arxref.chm) contains information about the AcGs classes.

I understand what you are trying to do. But I don't think that it is a good idea. The drawing tabs are views to the AcDbDatabase of the AcApDocument through layouts. They are tightly connected to the GS.

If you want to modify the display to your needs, it might be a better idea to use overrules (AcRxOverrule).

Or just populate the layout associated with the tab with whatever you need.

BEDIT in fact moves the content of the modelspace to an unnamed block, and the content of the block you are editing into the modelspace. So what you see during BEDIT is actually the modelspace!

Try it yourself with ArxDbg from <ARXDIR>\samples\database\ARXDBG.

I will have a look at the example. What do you mean by layout?

Thanks in advance,

Right now I'm not sure whether we are talking about the same tabs. I thought you mean the "layout tabs" below the drawing area that contain "Modell" and the paperspace layouts. Do you mean the "drawing tabs" above the drawing, that show the DWG name?

Yes, I was talking about the drawing tabs, not the layout tabs. My idea was to temporarily swap the database connected to the model space view. Maybe it isn't even possible. I simply had the impression that it could be possible to switch the connected database using AcGs stuff.

The idea to switch the content of the model space with the content of a block table record sounds reasonable. I will have look at this.
