Support and education here was much better WITH Tony than without him.

The mean guy who is right is more valuable to me than the nice guy who is wrong.

What really frustrates me is that there are others with advanced skills (and inside information) that do not take the time to contribute to this valuable resource.

Better a wide range of nice guys who are posting right answers, than only one or two rude ones who can't follow the rules (look 'em up if you aren't already familiar).  With a wider pool of talent, more people can develop to then answer the questions of others with a wider variety of options.  But we will never get there if those with advanced skills can't be bothered wading through 50-post threads which are nothing but (paraphrasing) mouse wagging contests over who has the better method.

My memory is foggy now but I think it was back in the Compuserve days....

Someone posted a challenge to write the shortest possible program in a certain language to do a certain task. A number tried and they were around a 100 lines of code or so. Then someone posted a version with 20 or so lines of code and we were all amazed!

Then Tony posted a version with 3 lines of code to do the same thing. Since that time I have forgiven him his excess and tried to learn as much as possible from the master.

Hope TT is well....

He gave his time to help other people.

I never really thought he was trying to be mean.

If you asked a question he answered it.

If you were giving someone bad advice he let you know or if you mistakenly thought you understood something he would let you know.

I can see how people might take it that way but I think he was just straight to point.

I'm not saying he was trying to be mean... he just was mean. In one particular instance I recall, he came down on some poor noob like a ton of bricks, just because the guy dared questioned something Tony said. It wasn't just a matter of being gruff and to the point, he was out-and-out insulting the guy. He sure seemed to view himself as the guru of gurus. He is very talented, so perhaps he is all that, but when that kind of behaviour is tolerated, it diminishes the entire environment. How many up and coming potential gurus could somebody like that scare off? The effects of such bullying are numerous and well documented in today's society. High intelligence is no excuse for barbarity.

Perhaps somebody took his teddy bear when he was a child.... I don't know.

It could be, I suppose... but it sure doesn't sound like him talking, at least to me.

True, but it's been filtered through a PR company so who knows what was originally said? 🙂

If this is him then maybe but I would not think he has been selling HVAC equipment for over 20 years

I thought so "original" way to remind Tony Tanzillo and its contribution to Autodesk: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Autodesk-Discussion-Groups/Forum-bug/td-p/3444485

Interesting, the username is TT now.

caddzone.com on the other hand is registered to a Oliver Hoger in Portugal. I wonder if TT let it expire or...?

Tony Tanzillo, a familiar presence in online forums for an extended period, seems to have become conspicuously silent lately. His absence from the digital sphere has not gone unnoticed by those who have come to appreciate his contributions over the years. From discussions on various topics to sharing insights and experiences, Tony's input has often been valued and sought after.
