Hi
I am wanting to copy the behaviour of a built in function in Civil3d on another object basically information on the
object is displayed in a box next to the cursor cros hair but its not a tooltip.
My question is what is it and can you access it for do you have to create it yourselve.
Attached is a picture

That would be part of the Dynamic Input feature in AutoCAD.
I think that there is a way to interact with it. It may (probably does) depend on what version of AutoCAD you are on.
Check out the EllipseJig Sample project in the ObjectARX SDK under \Samples\dotNet paying particular attention to the DynamicDimensionData stuff. I know that sample was available in the 2009 SDK, I don't know about earlier than that. Scratch that, I just found an old copy of the 2007 SDK, and it is there as well.
Thanks for the reply I will look at the sample tonight
I did find this reference in the forums
http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/NET/Dynamic-Input/td-p/1339772
to an undocumented method acedSetDynInputDisplayMessage back in 2005 helpfully it is still is in use and now documented
I am using 2011 and 2012.
