Automated Drawing Generator

I want to create an application that uses AutoCAD as a server based drawing generator. The attached flow chart shows my basic idea. Is this possible?? If so would I be better off using VB.NET or VBA for this application?

The configurator application (DARtec) would be written in VB.NET and send parameters from the users workstation to the AutoCAD application on the server. The AutoCAD application would create a DWG file and a DWF file. The DWF file would be viewable through DWF Viewer plugged into the configurator application.

Any insight into this process would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin

You can structure your application into two
basic components:

1. A client (that is not dependent in any way on
AutoCAD) that generates output (XML might
be appropriate).

2. An AutoCAD plug in that reads the output
and produces a DWG file.

I have a huge portion of this created in VB 6 and also to a lesser extent in
VB .Net. It consists of two DLL's and a VBA stub. One DLL contains the
individual objects that would make up the completed drawings. The other DLL
is responsible for creating the drawings based on the user specified
parameters, business rules, etc.

See my post in the customization.vba newsgroup on "Any Interest in a new way
to create your common components?"
