Debugging in Net

Ok, I just started looking at programming in NET - Yes, I am a newbie to this area.

It looks like I can not really debug my code the way I was able to do in Lisp, VBA or VB becuase I have to netload the dll everytime and there is no netunload option.

This is going to be a huge road block if I have to do any serious development in AutoCAD, and I tend to think there must be a better & more efficient way to debug. Thanks in advance for your reply.

You can still step through blocks of code once you load your DLL and run the appropriate functions... you just have to stop and restart AutoCAD everytime you make a change. It's not a huge roadblock in serious development if you ask me, it's just a minor inconvenience. If anything, I've become more thorough and confident in my coding procedures since I don't want to have to restart AutoCAD 200x a day.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be a netunload command, quite the contrary... it's just not as big of a road block as you make it out to be. The only road blocks you'll find are the ones you make yourself. Make sure you get a decent amount of familiarity with VB.NET before even delving into AutoCAD as well, otherwise you're going to be taking a whole lot of Excedrin (trust me, that tip is from experience).

Thanks for your quick reply.
Stop & Restart of AutoCAD is very disruptive since I also have load a large dwg file for retesting.
But thanks for the info. Looks like I am not really missing anything and there is no way to netunload. Not yet.

You CAN edit portions of code (not everything) while running it IF you place a stopper in the code while running the debugger. When the program is in paused debug mode, you can change code if the change is not too dramatic (VS 2005 - ACAD 2008).
