Using Batch Utility to save as previous versions

I currently use the batch utility in NW 2012 to convert an RVM file into NWD.

Some of our users only have NW2009 Review and are not able to open the files.

Does anyone know of a way of saving a compatable version of NWD from within the batch utility.

Even if I manually "Save As" I can still only save in 2012.2011 and 2010 versions.

I previously used an old version of Jetstream for these conversions and there was no problem with version compatibility. Unfortunately these conversions are now ignored by the task scheduler and the 2012 version is used instead.

Using the batch utilty you can only save in the current version. You would need to manually save back to an earlier version (in your case as 2010 or 2011 and then in that version save back to 2009).

Alternatively those users could look at upgrading?

Thanks for the quick response Lee.

The solution you proposed (manually saving to 2010 and then back to 2009) is the solution I used earlier today in order to keep users working. Unfortunately, it is not a a long term solution as the converted files become locked by users at all times of the day (which is why we create them at night). I agree, upgrading would be an ideal way, but again, the models are shesred with different companies and clients, and it is not something we could enforce.

It looks like I will have to revert to the old version (NavisWorks JetStream 5) for the conversion of our RVM files, which is a pity as the Batch utility look a cleaner and better option.

Is the answer still the same regarding this?

I really need to save my nwd-files from 2013 to 2010 using the batch utility as a scheduled task at night.

I actually discovered a way to do this with Manage 2014.  Basically using the Batch Utility, it provides a command line that it uses once scheduled.  From there I just copied that into a batch file and it is working and created the model in Manage 2014 and saves it as a 2012 file version.  Command line example below.

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Manage 2014\FiletoolsTaskRunner.exe" /i "C:\PROJECTS\APPS\KC_MODEL.txt" /of "C:\PROJECTS\APPS\NWF_TEMP\KC_Model.nwd" /version 2012

C:\PROJECTS\APPS\KC_MODEL.txt - Just a text file that lists the files to add to the model.  For this file I simply listed the path/file name for the NWF that was being used for Roamer.exe

C:\PROJECTS\APPS\NWF_TEMP\KC_Model.nwd - Simply the locatoin of where to save the model

 /version 2012 - Tells "FileToolsTaskRunner.exe" top save the NWD in 2012 format.

I just replaced the line in my batch script that was creating the model using roamer.exe with the one above and it works.  Like magic.
