Timeline Animation - how do I show items 'growing' from ground up etc.?

Hi, does anyone know how to show your items 'expanding' and 'growing' from the ground up during a timeline animation? All I can do with my Navis animation is have items drop or come in from the side. I have searched online and there are videos showing this but nothing to say how it's done! Any help would be brilliant. Here's what I seen and would like emulate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQkDRXo7tLM

Thanks - Nick

You can create an animation by first generating viewpoints (think of them as keyframes) and then set these on the timeline of the animation.

If you create the viewpoints with clipping, like a clipping box that is moving up a bit with each Viewpoint, it works.

Hi, I created the animation. Do you mean the enable sectioning tool? I did try this with my keyframe view but it makes all views 'sectioned' and when I turn off sectioning tools everything turns off.

OK,

I think you will need to start over again.

Set the sectioning on, with a horizontal plane that hides everything just about ground level, or a sectioning box that is sunk almost completely.

Create a viewpoint

Move the sectioning up a bit

Create a 2nd viewpoint

Repeat until you have about 10 viewpoints. I did also use the "Contrained Orbit" mode to turn a little around the object.

Switch between the viewpoints to see if the objects grow while you turn around them

then create a new Animiatio with these viewpoints in the right order.

Hi, yes I had done this and it worked fine. The only problem is I am doing an assembly timeline of a generator room and all components so I wanted to show different systems coming in different ways. With the section tool it captures everything which I did not want. Maybe if I scale some of the systems this would work.

So I wanted to make the sectioning tool specific to a system, but it seems Navisworks does not allow this and is for all within a model only - is this statement correct?

You need to use object animation for this, as the section planes are global.  You can animate movement from below (just as dropping in from above), and you can also animate change in Z-axis scaling for growth effects.
