Problems with IFC reader creating SitePlan Object (IFCBuildingStorey) in (0,0) far away from model objects makes it difficult to navigate in the model

Hi!

We have a problem with the Navisworks IFC File reader.

Using 'Convert Storeys: Show' or 'Convert Storeys: Hide', creates an IFCBuildingStorey-object in (0,0) which is far away from the model objects. This make it difficult to navigate in a big coordination model with many ifc files. Using 'Convert Storeys: Hide' the element is initially hidden, and that's good, but as we often hide and unhide different parts of the model, it is quite unpractical that the object is there in the first place.

The IFC models where this is a problem is exported from Novapoint, however it seems like that it is the Navisworks IFC File Reader that is the problem since the IFC models look good in e.g. Solibri (no object in 0,0).

Using 'Convert storeys: Skip' solves the problem for some models, but other models show up completely empty.

I have experienced the same when I have tried to remove the file with the IFCBuildingStorey-definition manually from the IFC file.

I have tried to use both Navisworks manage 2020, 2021 and Navisworks simulate 2022 with different options, but no luck yet. If I use the 'Legacy' option, the problem is not there, but the geometry and colours seem odd, so we do not want to use that option.  I have also read that this option will not further be supported, so it is better to use the modern version.

Is it possible to use another option to solve this problem or another workaround? Current workaround is to use a searchset to search and hide the objects, but it is not optimal.

I hope you understand what I mean, thank you very much 🙂

Kind regards

I have understood that this is solved in Navisworks 2023!
