Problems linking animation with transparency to timeline

I'm attempting to create an animation using the timeline and a linked camera animation with transparency.

I have set the timeline up to show the modelling of surveyed components of an existing construction along with the proposed new construction works.

At the point on the timeline where the existing construction is modelled i would like to change the transparency of it to 90% so that the proposed installation works are highlighted against the transparent existing construction.

When i run the timeline on its own it simulates perfectly.

When i run the animator on its own it works perfectly with the camera view capturing the desired key-frames and the required transparency applied to the appropriate sets at the required time.

When i link the animation to the timeline in the simulate settings and then run the simulation the camera animation works but the transparency is not applied.

I would appreciate if anyone could help or advise a better solution.

Kind Regards

Mark

I tried to replicate what you want to do on a small scale and I get the same results. That does not mean it can't be done, I just don't know the solution.

You might try looking at Fuzor. I think this might do what you are looking for.

Here is a link to feature request as well so you can ask Autodesk to add the functionality. https://kalloctech.com/index.jsp

Try this alternate approach and let me know the results.

Instead of controlling the transparency using the animator control it with timeliner.

1. Add an activity as existing condition and attach the model elements pertaining to existing condition to it.

2. Go to Configure tab in timeliner and add a new appearance profile (set color & transparency to 90%) called existing condition.

3. Change the task type of the activity to "existing condition".

4. Set the start and end date of the activity as long as you want the elements to appear in your timeline.

This way, when you simulate, the camera path will be controlled by your animator sequence and the transparency will be controlled by timeliner.

Thanks for your reply.

That's pretty much the solution I  worked out.

The biggest challenge is lining the screen captures in the camera animation up with the timeliner as I havent been able to find a timebar when the timeliner simulation is running.

Set the duration of your timeline from settings button under "Simulate" tab based on your requirement.

Play the timeline simulation and use record tool to capture the movements for view point animation and link that animation to your timeliner.

This way you could have a little bit more control to sync your camera path to your timeline.
