NWD to DWG workaround

I have looked and cannot find a workaround for this. We want to view specific items from a federated model (.NWD) in CADmep (.DWG). Things such as a single piece of equipment so we can connect to it.

We have the Architecture Engineering & Construction Collection so any programs there are available.

I have tried to export to DWF and DWFx but get an "Invalid File" error when I try to reference it.

I have tried linking and exporting from Revit to CADmep thinking it would come out as a block but no such luck.

I know the 2016 version had a way to pull items from Navis but we can't get a version older than 2019 currently.

I know we could turn off unwanted things like walls and other disciplines then save and attach the NWD as a coordination model but that would require a separate attachment for each piece of equipment I believe and we just don't have the level of control as we would like.

I think there's a couple of workarounds to go from NWD to FBX to 3DS Max then export to DXF I think. I haven't kept up to date with it. You'd be best off asking for the source model from whoever authored it.

There is a plug-in for Naviswork called iConstruct, this plug-in has a lot of features and one of them is export to dwg.

https://support.iconstruct.com/iconstruct/smart-dwg-exporter/usage/

I have used this app in the past.

Please note:  iConstruct is a paid app.

@Tomislav.Golubovic, Thank you! you reminded me of the file format ideas!

You know when you swear you've figured this out but can't remember? Ya, that was me. I answered this question a year and a half ago on another forum. To add-its an AutoDesk product that's free.

Hopefully, this will make it easy for people to find now..including me.

Unfortunately, not. It looks like this site privileges changed since I linked it and I cannot access it now either, nor do I have the installer it seems.
FBX Converter: Autodesk FBX Converter Help this is the program though that was mentioned there though.

FBX Converter Archives | Autodesk Platform Services this might be a download spot
