Navisworks Timeliner Running Selection Set Dates but not Showing Model

Hi Everybody,

I'm running Revit and Navisworks 2017 and trying to make a 4-D construction simulation. I've gone through and tagged all of my models in Revit and navisworks, and I have a corresponding CSV table. I've gotten them all set to go in Navisworks, but when I run the simulation, I see only the gaant chart moving - nothing shows in the simulation as being built.

This is really confusing to me, as I can select things in the selection set and they appear selected in Navisworks, outside of the simulation.

Any ideas on something I might have done wrong, or something I can do to fix this? I did learn this from a 2012 demo video so there is a possibility that I'm missing something.

CSV and NWF file attached.

Hi

I can't do anything with your NWF file as an NWF file contains links to the original native files (as listed on the Selection Tree) together with Autodesk Navisworks-specific data, such as review markups. No model geometry is saved with this file format. You would need to upload a NWD,

But

I would firstly check that the Simulation Settings are correct> View = Planned etc.

Also check your Clipping Planes:

To constrain the position of the clipping planes automatically in a 3D workspace

  1. Click Home tab Project panel File Options .
  2. In the File Options dialog box, click the Culling tab.
  3. Select Automatic for the Near clipping plane.
  4. Select Automatic for the Far clipping plane.
  5. Click OK.

Autodesk Navisworks automatically controls the position of near and far clipping planes to give you the best view of the model.

Also double check that you're Planned Start and Actual Start are correct in the Timeliner and that your Task Type is correct, as well as that you have assigned the relevant Selection Sets to each task line.

Justin,

The solution ended up being a lot more simple - I looked back at my excel CSV file and I was not including a column that labeled all of the activities as "construction". Once I did that and mapped the column to the corresponding one in Navisworks, the 4-D simulation started working right away.

Thank you for the in depth reply though!!
