Navisworks Simulate 2011 Problems

Hi,

We are using Autodesk Navisworks Simulate 2011 on Windows XP 32 BIT as well as on Windows 7 64 BIt platform.

We are facing the Navisworks Crash problem for multiple brand of computers with various memory and graphics options.

We use the Folder Delete solution to overcome the crash problem but it works for few days and again the problem resurface

for the users, we infact tried appllcation reinstall and total machine rebuild as well but it solves the problem for few days and again it starts pushing user out of navisworks session showing autodesk support dialog box with email option. or navisworks crash without any prompt or message.

Permanent help is required to solve this problem instead of deleting the folders from user profile.

Admins/Users everybody is frustrated due to this problem.

Urgent solution for this problem is required. There was no problem at all in usage of Navisworks 5.5 and Navisworks 2009.

Can you ensure that when Navisworks is first installed it is installed by an Administrator and the installer is 'Run as Administrator' in Windows 7.When Navisworks is first run it should be run as a normal user, not an Administrator.

The reason that deleting the folders temporarily solves the problem is that is forces Navisworks to rebuild the Users folder. If they have been created by an Administrator, then they won't be accessible to your normal user. If Navisworks has been installed under a user profile with limited Admin rights you'll find that the installation won't have installed correctly leading to other issues.

Hi Lee,

Thanks a lot for the prompt reply.

We have installed the software by using administrator login and also used Run As administrator after logging in in Windows 7

We always install the application by using administrator login.

We have also trying to disablle Open GL from Options tab but it does not work. surprisingly on the same machines Navisworks 5.5 works very well with the same model without any problems.

Navisworks 2011 and 2012 have different system requirements to Navisworks 5, so you will see a difference in performance.

Have you checked if the machines are up to the current system requirements? http://beyonddesign.typepad.com/posts/2011/06/121-gigawatts-121-gigawatts-great-scott.html

Have the graphics drivers been updated on these machines? What happens when you switch off Hardware Acceleration in the Performance options? This will disable the use of the graphics card with Navisworks, performance will be worse and we don't recommend running in this state but this should help narrow down if the Graphics card is the cause.

When you get a crash report can you put your forum username in the box as well as details of what was being done at the time, this will help us track these reports.

If this happens before Navisworks even gets going can you also search for a lastsession.xml file(s) on the machine and delete this/these.
