I am having the same problem, any solutions?

I know that under options you can change the display graphics system from "autodesk" to "basic", that will change the xref colors.

but it changes the background to all black.

Is there a way to do it without changing the background to black?

You can also under options, uncheck Convert Autodesk Material.

That seemed to work for me.

Under Options --> File Readers --> DWG/DWF --> Uncheck Convert Autodesk Material

This worked for my situation.... using AutoCAD 2018 and CadWorx 2018
