Navisworks Freedom open .nwd file at specific coordinates

Is it possible to open a .nwd file with specific viewpoint opening automatically to the scene? For example camera position at x,y,z and look at x,y,z.

or

Is it possible to open a .nwd file with a saved viewpoint opening automatically?

Command line switches don't seem to have the correct option to open with a link. The only way that I have found is to save the .nwd file in simulate while the correct viewpoint is selected, but I wouldn't like to make many 20 Mb files just to have a one-click solution to zoom in to a section of the building. Only if Freedom could open .nwf files, then making different files wouldn't be such a problem...

Interesting question indeed.
Not that I know of, and there is still a difference visible between a) opening an NWD that was saved with a certain viewpoint active and b) activate that viewpoint in Freedom after opening.
The (annoying) difference I found is that any redlines saved in the viewpoint are not visible on opening, but only after re-activating the same viewpoint in Freedom. A command line option for restoring a viewpoint upon opening an NWD could also provide a solution for that issue.

Have a look at the Scripting tool - there's an Event for "On Open" and an Action to set a named view.

Thank you for your post,

I am sorry, but what you wish to set up within Navisworks Freedom is not yet possible in the current configuration of the software.

The only way to set up what viewpoint Freedom will display upon open, is to save from Manage or Simulate to that particular viewpoint before closing.

Regarding the Scripter, by design, it gives you the ability to bring life to the objects in the model.

I am sorry, but it does not yet support the configuration you are looking for.

Also, Navisworks Freedom only supports Scripts for Animations.

However, if you wish such a functionality to be introduced into the product, I would suggest submitting your feedback directly to the product development team in this Link.

This will help further compel the need for this functionality change, and build momentum. Please remember to indicate the business impact, to help development understand the current features.
