Manage / Clash Detection / Results Tab / Column Sorting Issue

We have an existing NWC file, being utilized for all sorts of coordination, and clash detection. This NWC has all disciplines models appended to it, along with a few 3d CAD drawings.

We are in the middle of a project and have already run quite a few different clash tests, keeping track of new, active and resolved clashes. Up until now we have been grouping all clashes by sorting Grid Location column in the results tab. And then Group by Item Involved. As of the last tests re-run, the Grid Location column refuses to sort, no matter how many times I click on the header of the column, it does nothing. All other columns sort fine.

Has anyone come across this issue? How do I fix it, without having to scrap the existing NWC file, we do not want to lose the entire resolved clash history.

Thank you for your help.

My guess is something happened to the file that contains the grid. Can you attach a previous version of that file ?

Thank you for your respoonce. I did think of that, and checked to make sure all grids are as they use to be. The model containing grids is only used for Navis export, there is no reason for it to be wrong, but I still made sure all is well.

Took your advice recoved NWC files form 2 weeks, replaced new ones with the old ones; oppened the NWF and it is still doing the same thing. Its so strange that it will sort by NAME, STATUS, LEVEL, FOUND…. But not GRID…. And it use to in this file, and it still does in a brand new NWF.

Try going to View > Grids & Levels > Make sure the Model listed (next to what looks like a piece of paper with an arrow next to it) is the model that you'd like to use as your grid reference.

Have you recently received an updated Revit model / NWC Export from a Revit model?

I had an issue like this where the Grids & Levels menus were greyed out.  Turns out the person that exported the NWC from Revit did not check the
"Divide File into Levels" option.  So it may be an issue with how the NWC was exported from Revit.

They may have deleted the grids in the model prior to export to get around the known "Generating Views for Level xx" hang-up issue associated with grids.

This would make the most sense seeing that your reverting back to a previous NWF does not solve the issue.  You might try replacing the model that is shown on the Grids & Levels Menu (see above) with a previous version.

Hope this helps.

If it does in a new NWF, than make a copy to try the following:
Open this copy NWF. If you have the grids, then append the faulty NWC to this NWF. Hopefully then you have a combination of models that work.

Thank you guys for giving me a few different suggestions. I'd like to follow up and let you all know that nothing worked and we had to rebuild the Navis model. We reached out to many different resources, one of them being AD, but no solutions were found.

But I do have a suspicious feeling that it has something to do with the 3d CAD model and the fact that elements of this model are being deleted and replaced with new, thus creating a brand new clash each time and multiplying same unresolved clashes.
