Layer PnP3dInsulationLayer from P3D 2020 model does not load in Navisworks 2021

Hello everyone,

i would like to see the pipe insulation in NavisWorks Manage 2021. My piping model was made in Plant 3D 2020. As I add the DWG file in NavisWorks, the Layer PnP3dInsulationLayer is not there :(. Object Enabler is installed and apparently working (at least for fittings and valves).

The procedure:

* I turn on the insulation toggle in P3D; the DWG model contains the layer PnP3dInsulationLayer;

* I add the file in Navisworks, but the layer PnP3dInsulationLayer does not show...

Any ideas why this happens?

Thanks in advance.

can you verify that the DWG has geometry on the PnP3dInsulationLayer layer?

I don't have Plant on my laptop, so I opened the DWG in AutoCAD MEP and checked the layer and there was no geometry.

Not on my PC to check, but I think from memory there's always been issues with Insulation in anything from 2020 to previous versions. It wouldn't display in Navisworks no matter what. Its just how it is. However with 2021 they did some changes and I think it does show, but I can do some testing tomorrow or over the weekend and post a video about it.

Have you tried upgrading the project to 2021 and see if/how it works? Make a copy first obviously 🙂

Hello everyone !!

I have the same problem.

I have analyzed the files and the difference is that the Plant3D 2020, put the insulation in a layer for every model (PnP3dInsulationLayer) image 1, so in Plant3D 2021, put the Insulation in each line number (500_Insulation, 666_Insulation) or depend of de "Layer and color  settings", image 2.

I don't find the way for modify this behavior into Navisworks Manage and recognize the layer name "PnP3dInsulationLayer"

Sameone have a solution for this issue? or just can't work with Plant3D 2020 and Navisworks Manage 2021?

I don't undestand why, if this is a normal layer inside of a dwg.

thanks,

Hi folks!

Though this is an older topic I am answering today, becaucse I struggled the same problem a handful times. I "managed to navigate" 🙃 through the fog of multi-version installations and this is what I found out:

1. The version of the Plant 3D Object Enabler that was last installed is the leading/working version of Navisworks you should use.

2. There is no need to have more than one version of Navisworks installed, as long as it is assured that the corresponding Object Enablers are installed too.

3. Installing newer versions of Navisworks lead to the need of installing the corresponding Object Enabler. This again kicks you back to point 1!

4. You can "switch" between the versions of Navisworks (V2021 and before) that are installed by going to (Windows) Control-Center -> Programs and Features, select the desired version of the Plant 3D Object Enabler, click on Uninstall/Change, than click on Add/remove function, uncheck both Navisworks check boxes and confirm the window. After this repeat the steps to re-check the Navis-boxes and confirm. Now this version of Navisworks should show up all the Plant 3D stuff in the right way.

Hope that helps.
