IFC to Navisworks - Appending out of workspace

Hi,

I like to think that I am an experienced Revit user. However when it comes to Navisworks I have little experience so far.

I am trying to Append an IFC file (from the steel manufacturer) to the Revit architectural model in Navisworks.

When appending the IFC file, it appears to be out of the working space and when orbiting the model, it just disappears. I am not that concerned about the IFC importing to the exact coordinates (I have already read that many users experience problems with this), because I could manually move it to the correct position. However it appears like it is completely out and the file becomes unusable.

Anyone could give me a hand with this one?

Many thanks in advance.

In most of the cases, this has to due with wrong origin or wrong units

Within Navisworks, select the IFC model in the Select Tree,

Right mouse menu -> File units and transform

check the units first

use the "Page Down" button on your keybord to "zoom to the selected" IFC model to see the changes .

Repeat until the models align.

Patrick,

I appreciate your help. That worked perfectly! I matched the coordinates of the IFC file to the Revit model and brought it back to the working space.

Regarding to the units, I have realized that the IFC is in Milimeters while the architectural is in feet (if I change it back to millimeters it obviously scales the model). How could I change the units of the model to the correct ones? Is that something that is incorrect on the Revit file?

Many thanks in advance.
