How to view .nwd models on a android tablet?

Hello all,

I've been searching and trying various methods and different apps to do this, but still none of them have worked. And im quessing it is an user error.

So please, tell me how can I view .nwd models with my Samsung Tab S5e? What apps do I need or what do I need to get? I use Navisworks Freedom 2020 on my PC. It would be so convinient to take my tablet on the work site and review 3d models there.

A360 didnt work. I wasnt able to upload my model to it.

BR,

Nico

A360 isn't around anymore. You have Autodesk Drive, or BIM360.

Autodesk Drive - https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-access-Autodesk-D...

Tried to open that file in browser, but it crashed. Maybe the 3d model is too big for this tablet?

Now we are looking into getting an iPad Pro or Surface Pro -tablets to handle these 3d models on the field.

Is this seriously your answer? Buy an IPad? I do not want to buy an IPad to view .nwd 3D models on the go and I also do not want to use huge data transfers all the time.

How is it possible a company like Autodesk cannot create an Android nwd viewer app???

There are some third-party tools that allow you to export a model to view on an Android. Just be aware, that some models might have to be broken up in order actual work on an Android.

We initially started using iConstruct years ago to split up Navis models just so that they would open in Glue. Technology has gotten better and we haven't had to do that (we are also not using Glue on iPad any longer). But something to be aware of.

We ditched the idea of using android tablets on the field and started using Surface Pro tablets instead. Running just fine, eventhough using 3d model without a mouse is terrible. So maybe Navisworks could have some sort of controls to use 3d model with only touch screen in the future? Tried to run somesort of addon, but it wasn't quite perfect.

I'm sorry but I can't understand how a company like Autocad, WORLD LEADER, is not able to create a nwd viewer app for Android which is actually working. This is just embarrassing.

The answer is simple and obvious - Autodesk only cares about money, and not their users' convenience.

This plugin is supposed to allow viewing of NWD files on Android after converting them to the .epic format:

Publish to Mobile View for Autodesk® Navisworks®
