How to set rule about pipe pass through slab to clash?

Hi all,

I have 2 models: structural and MEP to clash detection.

One request is set rule is excluded pipe (in model MEP) hat pass through a structural floor (model structural) that is less than 200mm.

Anybody can help me?

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

I'm not sure if I understand correctly, but you can set the tolerance of the clash when run the analysis.

You need to set the tolerance bigger than 200 mm, so it will not create a clash with that pipeline, then you need to run the clash between that pipeline and the structural model.

Hope it helps

Hi @Nicola_Ianeselli, thanks for help 🙂

That's a good idea.

But in addition above clash test, the check clash have many rules examples: structural columns, wall,.. to MEP elements with hard style clash and tolerance 0.5mm. How can I get 2 set tolerance in a test?

Or need to create 2 tests? And how to excluded it?

Hi @Anonymous,

you cannot set two tolerances, you need to create two tests.

With each test you can select only the things you want to check and set the tolerance and the type of clash with each other.

Hope it is clear

Best

Hi @Nicola_Ianeselli, thank for your help.

Although, my problem is this: Set clash test between Structure and MEP with below rules:

  • Included Structural elements such as slabs, column, beams... vs all elements in MEP.  (1)
  • And excluded pipe pass through structural slabs less than 200mm (2)

Problem (1) is easy, i can get it. But problem (2), how to set this rule?

If can do as you wrote, create it to 2 sets, how to except element pipe satisfy (2)?

Hi,

As you mentioned condition (1) is easy to describe.

You may use Rules for your requirement (2). Fist you may add all pipes and slabs less than 200 to a one selection set and use the "Same Selection Set" rule to exclude clashes between items in same this selection set. Alternative you may use the "Specified Selection Sets" rule, in this case you will need a selection set for the pipes and another selection set for slabs less than 200.

Hope Helps...
