Exporting Smaller Areas for viewing in Freedom

Hello,

I'm trying to export a smaller area of of large NAvisworks model for use in Navisworks Freedom.

Currently, when i reduce it down (using the box out), and export to a NWD, the entire model is retained.

Is there a way to export a smaller reduced area of a model, which can be opened in Navisworks Freedom.

Thanks

Alex

Try hiding the objects that you don't want to see as well.  OR you could section it off and hide the objects sectioned off then export as a dwf and re-import into navis then publish it.

For the moment, not. You will need to trim the area in the CAD models attached or detach the unneeded files.
I believe there is development going on in this area of functionality, so do sign up for Beta testing of version 2017 or 2018.

Hey, I did not know that DWF workflow worked.
I used a top view, selected objects just with select box, Hide unselected and then exported to DWF.
Started a new NWF, appended that DWF and only the objects selected are there.

It does make the model lighter than the native file.....and the nwc it produces on append.

But this is the only time I would use a dwf....I would also direct any subs to export it as a dwf and send along with thier native files.

Thanks Everyone.

As a workaround, the DWF system did work, but only produced an acceptable result. Native export would obviously have been much better.

Hopefully, Autodesk are working on an export system, because models can become very cumbersome, and difficult to use. Which does nothing but to disengage users who have specific needs only relevant to smaller areas.
