Difference between Hard and Clearance clash

Dear fellows,

I've read a lot of articles about the types of clashes but I still can't understand the difference between the Hard type of clash and Clearance clash in Navisworks. Could anyone explain in simple words? 

When I insert the same tolerance value for Hard and Clearance type it gives me different results in amount of clashes in the report.

Hi @Anonymous,

The Hard clash will show all of the elements in which their geometry is actually clashing unless there is a tolerance major to the distance that the elements are overlapping.

In the case above for example is a hard clash but will be only shown if the clearance is minor than 3' 1/4"

On the contrary the clearance clash type will show you all the elements that actually overlapping and also the elements that are not overlapping but the distance between them is minor that the tolerance that you have configured.

In the case above this will be shown as a clash only if the tolerance is 11' 1/4" divided by 2, as the software creates an invisible "clearance" around each object.

Hi everyone,

Is there an option within Navisworks to find out point cloud deviation above noted values.

For example , if I want to know which walls are modelled above tolerance 25mm, is there option to find out using Nawisworks?
