Convert NWD File to DGN or DWG File

Hi to all experts,

I just want to seek help on how I can convert the Navisworks NWD File into a workable DGN or DWG File.

Purpose is that I want to create a drawing from the NWD File. Reason, I am receiving updated Navisworks File every week and has no accces on the seed file (PDMS Data). So I easily rely on the received Navisworks (NWD).

I have a Navisworks Simulate 2015, Microstation V8i and AutoCAD 2015.

Hope you can help me on this. Will appreciate your feedback.

Thank you very much

The main purpose of a Published NWD file is to enable file sharing in a secured/non-editable format. Accordingly, you cannot convert an NWD file into DGN, DWG or any other editable file format.

Upgrade to Autocad 2016, 2017 2018 or 2019

in there you can append the NWD as a "collaboration model", just like any other Xref

From there you can start creating Sheets

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the reply, Ive tried it already, but my NWD had a password so before I open the NWD to simulate I normally type first the password. But when I try to attach this on the autocad2018 the file cannot be attached.

I've seen another option, I try to export the NWD as FBX file, I was able to see the model in AutoCAD/Microstation, however the orientation is different. When I put top view on the autocad it seems like a perspective view in Navis. Is there any way I can fix this? Because seems the components are not straight....

Will appreciate your reply.

Third party software iconstruct does this, however I have been unable to get it to successfully export to proper location and takes more time than is worth for our needs.
