Clash detection in a section box only

Hi everybody,

I have several different models in a project and I need to do the technical synthesis by space or by zone which are not identified in the models (no attributes). I can identify zones by saving viewpoints made with section boxs, and I would like to know if it's possible to use the clash detective tool for elements which are only in a section box? the goal is to don't have to use clash detective tool for all the models and then to have to select the clashs which are in the zone I want to study.

Thanks for your reply

Hi there,

I believe this is not possible.

The workaround will be doing the section box in Revit, then export that current view into an NWC file. You can now then create search sets for the elements of this section using the Source File Item Filter and run your Clash Detective using the search sets. With this method, elements within the section box that you made in Revit will undergo the clash test.

I hope this helps.

In my mind you can check your rooms volume to be accurate as needed, then Export Room geometry and all parameters to Navisworks from export setting, where in Navisworks you can create Searchset of Selection set but if u need it automatic refered create Searchset by file then by Category

You can try to create plugin for Revit which will add parameter room name to all elements within room and after that you can create selection/search sets in Navisworks easily by using Productivity Toolbox or manually one by one. Also, with this plugin you can easily select rooms by bounding box, which is not precise, but it's better than nothing.
