Change Viewcube Orientation

Hi,

I opened a DWG file in Navisworks Manage 2021. The file was originally an Inventor assembly which I exported to DWG format. When I opened the file in Naviswork, the viewcube orientation is as shown in the attached image. In this orientation, the model is difficult to orbit. Is there a way to change the viewcube orientation such that the Top becomes the Front in the attached image and the Compass orientation is flat on the bottom?

I have already attempted to set the Top view to the Front by right clicking the viewcube but the displayed name does not change. Please let me know if there is a resolution to this request. Thanks.

Regards,

Keith

The viewcube obeys, originally the orientation saved in its original model. Once opened in Navisworks, you can change the view in the way that suits you. However, the default orientation is pre-defined in the program's internal settings, and it is not possible to change it. If you need more information, see: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/navisworks-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/20...

hi @kappah

is it the view cube or the model itself that is not in the correct orientation? If it is the model, you can go to the Selection Tree > Right Click > Units and Transform and change the rotation about the appropriate axis.

This is the closest so far to helping me. But seriously, that interface gives me nothing. What does 0 1 0 mean? Scale 1 1 1? I'm throwing in numbers to try to make it work, but nothing is sticking.

It's embarrassing how bad the viewcube is compared to Inventor. The model is correctly oriented in Inventor and bringing it over to Navisworks is a mess.

The 0 1 0 means the axes x, y, z. Changing the value to 1 or more than 0 means you are rotating the model about the that axis.

0 1 0 means you are rotating it about the y axis.

Scale 1 1 1 is you are scaling it at x, y and z axis. if you want to make it proportional then the value should be equal.

Here's also the link from autodesk knowledge. hope this helps.
