RVM Supported Format

Hi All,

I have been trying to export Navisworks from PDMS/E3D and I haven't had any success with dumping the attributes.

I read in

Supported file formats and applications for Autodesk Navisworks 2009 to 2015

that Autodesk Navisworks only supports rvm files up to PDMS 12.0.SP5

I was talking to an Aveva technical specialist that because they have upgraded their review attribute files that its up to Autodesk to support the new format.

Is there a workaround that anyone has found? I have tried stripping the attributes file using wordpad, notepad, setting an environment variable in the batch file with nothing working. And also tried using the different extensions.

Please advise

hi,

This question does not belong in a Navisworks API forum. Your question is not related to the Navisworks API.  I recommend that you head over to the avevaworldforum http://www.avevaworldforum.com/forum/

I can give you some hints. Attribute files are just text files with a fairly simple structure. Companies using rvm+txt files often have their own custom code to produce these files (we do here). You should be able to use the old pml attributedump pml code provided by Aveva and use that as a starting point to export txt files from e3d containing what ever pdms attributes you need. Also you could do the same thing using the .net API.

Best regards,

Ulrik
