Gluing (weld) shell edges

Gluing (weld) shell edges

It would be extremely helpful if a joint between two irregular meshes with common edge geometry in a FEMAP model could be glued or welded together. This would help keep element size down and help reduce model setup time.

Hello @nseelig,

Sorry for the gap in reply, but I wanted to share Autodesk Nastran has this capability.  You can use "Offset Bonded" contact to join shell elements either face to face, edge to face, or edge to edge.  This can be done using the traditional BSCONP and BSSEG or by using the automated contact generation in Nastran with the CONTACTGENERATE directive or CONTACTGEN parameter.
