E5000 error on gridpoint OUTSIDE the model???

I keep getting an E5000 error on a steady state heat transfer analysis with reference to a grid point that isn't even on the model. I'm at the end of my wits here. Have anyone else seen this before and/or know how to get rid of this? I've tried the solutions mentioned in the documentation (SHELLRNODE = ON, 1 < K6ROT > 100, etc.).

Hi @fridtjofZM5ME 

 

The off-the-model node is actually a real node in the analysis. The convection and radiation loads create a point off the model to apply the ambient temperature load to.

 

Though, usually I never bother finding the node that is causing the E5000 error. It has never helped find the cause.

 

Have you looked at the Mesh Quality? Distorted elements can cause issues.

 

Check that all your material properties are reasonable.

 

And I can't remember correctly off the top of my head, but there should be some sort of iteration control. Radiation is a unstable aspect of an analysis and can often go awry.
