triplanar mapping. must have good controls to controls the edge blend such as noise, custom bitmap input. tiling amount, rotation.

 

look at examples in mari, vray, arnold, substance painter.

I would consider texture painting features of Mudbox near to complete for what it should do right now if we had

access to a Tri-Planner projection tool.
