New brushes

New brushes

This has been one of the simplest requests that goes way way back. Why have there not been new brushes added and an easy way to port brushes from one version of Mud to another?

That is true.

We can create our new customized brushes. But Like I commented here: Why we cannot share our new brushes in a simple way, via some kind of small file, instead to be repeating and introducing by hand all parameters for the new tool we created?

Smart particle brushes too like in substance painter.. you guys really need to go look over that side of the fence and then do it more intuitively and less geeky.

Lots of work arounds at the moment for things like UDIM only partly supported etc.. can't paint across seems etc..

Mudbox use of PTEX is a big huge advantage!!!!!

Add in things like:

adjustment layers

smart brushes and particle brushes.

PBR materials and smart materials

Even SBSAR Substance inside mudbox.. think about this workflow

A live link to maya.. - send model to MB then texture with ptex. add in substances where you can for procedural and paint the rest.

maya always being updated as you go.. with V-ray or arnold etc.. updating in real time.

adjust your smart materials and substances inside mudbox then send to maya to further adjust. send painting as maps and substances as sbsar's and create the shader graphs automatically

Talk about not waiting....

Paul, it would be helpful to list the brushes you are looking for and Sergio, please break out the portable brushes as a separate idea.

Hi,

I am learning to draw from video. I need a chamois charcoal , but I don't know what does it do, and how can I make brush like that.

Can somebody help me please?

@jill.ramsay Jill, don't know if you still work at Autodesk as it has been two years since you asked me to give you a list.

Best I can suggest is that you open Z Brush and have a look at the massive list of brushes that they have.

Without the ability to post brushes from one install to another using Mud is a waist of time for the most part as I will have to rebuild any brushes that I have made in each version. I used to try and keep that up but it was not worth the effect as there are so many other necessary features missing from Mudbox from years of neglect.

Not being able to attach two objects together and mesh them also stops me from using Mud.

Mudbox how ever is so much cleaner to use then Z Brush I think that if real work was done on it people might start using it again including myself. However Mud is so far behind at this point it would take far more than the trickle of features that we have seen in recent years.

Just my 2 cents from a once dedicated user of Mudbox.
