Render Save Screen Image Not Working Correctly

Hi

Im trying to take screenshot of my sculpted model using Render > Save Screen Image.

I've positioned the model on the screen and can see it's fully visible, but the screen image has cropped out lots fo the model.

Is this a bug, or is there something Im missing?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Mudbox currently does not correctly support display resolutions greater than 2K, and this is one of the artifacts. We're working on a fix. In the meantime, if you set your display to 1920 x 1080 while working in Mudbox, things should be OK.

Hope this helps,

Jill

Hi Jill

Thank you for the quick and helpful reply. It seems a bit hit and miss, as I was able to get renders out yesterday at 20,000 x 10,000 pixels with no problems. Also when I start up Mudbox, the model starts off in exactly the same position as the ( weirdly cropped) rendered screenshot (eg pushed up to the left, so part of the model is not visible, so I have to zoom out to get the whole model in shot.

I'm brand new to Mudbox, but I really love working with it - it's very intuitive and makes modelling very easy. It's great that there is rendering capability, and also that you can edit lights etc.

For this project, Im going to do a 'quick and dirty' screengrab, as the resolution should still be big enough for my composite.

I hope this fix comes soon, and thanks for such a great product.

BTW - a bug I noticed - If I add a stencil image, then close Mudbox, move or delete the image, then restart Mudbox, it crashes every time. I have to delete the prefs to get it to work again. Hope this is useful info!

Many thanks!

Hello, I was unable to reproduce the problem by doing the following:

launching Mudbox 2018.1
creating a base mesh
adding the file as stencil
sculpting
saving the scene
exiting Mudbox
then deleted the file in those scenarios:

deleting the file on local drive
deleting the file on an external drive as well as disconnecting the external drive
deleting the file on a network drive

launched Mudbox 2018.1 again

could you tell me if I am missing anything?
also could you tell me what version of Mudbox you are using and what is your OS?

Best,

-Louis
