MoBu 2020 - How can I limit joint rotation on an IK rig?

I'm working on a project that requires me to process motion capture data and map it onto a mechanical model. As a result, I've created a Maya rig that has only one degree of freedom per joint. I've imported both the mechanical model and the mocap data into MotionBuilder, and Retargeted from one onto the other. How do I limit the range and DOF for the seven joints that make up the mechanical arm while still having the hand follow the mocap figure's hand motions?
