Is it possible to retarget only part of an animation?

I'm trying to combine two animations into one. Basically, I've got a character with two attack animations, "attack left" and "attack right" that I want to combine into attacking with both the left and right arms simultaneously. Just wondering if it's possible to only bring over the arm animation from the source animation?

Could you use story mode for this? ie.use one character track with your Attack Left animation, then make another track with your Attack Right, and use the body parts filter to specify the bones that you want to overlay?
