Is facial animation shape data only accessible in MotionBuilder?

Hi,


I have motion capture animation work (both body and facial on human models) that I did in MotionBuilder, and when importing my FBX files in Unity, I find that the facial capture (as shapes) isn't correctly importing. As a lark, I also imported the same FBX into Blender, and Blender also lacked the facial capture data (though I should point out that, at least in Unity, the actual shapes can be seen, albeit all of them have zero values when this is not the case in the original FBX). All of my facial shape keying animations are plotted within the original file, and while the body/bone animations carry over as they should, the facial shape key animations are not.

When saving my fbx files, I have all of the animation options set to save, and I can re-load the files in MotionBuilder with all animations intact, so that tells me that everything is plotting as it should...it just doesn't seem that the shape data can be accessed elsewhere. I've even tried saving the file in 2022 to see if it would matter, but the end result is the same.

 

Can anyone offer any thoughts?
