Animation breaks from 3DS Max into MotionBuilder

The image above is a render from 3DS Max showing my character with the animation working. I took my motioncapture data in MotionBuilder and applied them to my mesh. I may have done this wierd as i learned the software like 2 days ago but to get the animations out of motionbuilder, i sent them to 3DS Max and then exported it from there. This allowed me to bring in my TPose character (as shown below) back into MotionBuilder ready to apply and edit the animation to make it loop using the story tool.
After characterising the biped, i then dragged the characters animation onto a character track in the story tool. This distorted the character and appeared as shown below with the animation still on. I checked all versions of the animations and they all appear fine, but as soon as i bring them into MotionBuilder to loop them, it distorts. Even the first edits (of the motion capture data that i initially applied to the model in MotionBuilder) work fine. Any help is appreciated as im a MotionBuilder noob.
