Thermal expansion of the mold

Hello,

I would like to ask if there is a way to obtain data about the thermal expansion of the mold with Moldflow Insight.

I know that there is an option to take into account the expansion of the mold for better warpage results but what I want is to get the actual values of how much the mold expands.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm not to sure about actual beta versions, - or maybe Moldflow Ultimate, but there was a "branch" that calculated the expansion once.

But until know the best way to get these data is to map the temperature data from Moldflow to you favorite FEM tool.

This could be done via CONVERSE for example. (Maybe Helius PFA can do it also?)

What you do is to map the temperature of the cavitiy to your moldblock, and you should consider your cooling lines also in the FEM.

Thus you might get your expanded mold as presize as possible, wheter static or transient.

Best regards

Harald
