Moldflow Insight and HTV silicone rubber

Hi everyone !

 

Hope you are all well. 

 

I would like to know if it is possible to work with HTV (High Temperature Vulcanized Silicon Rubber) with Moldflow Insight ?

Hi Pauline,

as I understand the process the HTV material comes in blocks that are compressed.

Wacker reference : Solid silicone rubber (HTV) – High-Temperature Vulcanizing Silicone Rubbers

 

In such a case, I think reactive compression molding could be a way forward for you.

So if I understand well, I will be able to use HTV silicone rubber by using the compression molding analysis of Moldflow Insight ?

Hi Pauline,
yes, I believe so, and you need Moldflow Insight Ultimate

Further, you need material data for thermoset/reactive of HTV.
Could not find such in official Moldflow material database for reactive materials.
Check with material supplier if they have an .udb-file for simulation or could suggest an equvivalent material.

 

Step through the tutorial for compression molding with the available model to download, and test a reactive material to get the hint of it.
