Dear Moldflow Users,

I’m extremely happy to announce to you the availability of the Moldflow 2017 R2. The crown jewel in this release is the ability to make small design changes directly on CAD geometry within Synergy, the Moldflow Insight user interface. You can make either make the geometric changes one at a time, or define areas of geometry as parameters, and drive the changes and possible permutations through the Parametric Study. A short video on how to use this new tool can be found here.

We also made improvements to the robustness and usability of the Simulation Job Manager (SJM). It also now supported for proxy networks.

On the solver side, we have made major improvements to the 3D Fiber orientation. We have improved the RSC fiber orientation parameters, and made changes to the default Closure approximation. More importantly, we have introduced a new Moldflow Rotational Diffusion (MRD) 3D fiber orientation model. This model now default and has shown to make a major improvement over the previous default Folgar-Tucker model. Tests have shown that the new model show improvements in the ability to predict possible orientation in the core layers that is perpendicular to the flow direction.

We also release a new way to calculate 3D warpage, using residual stresses. This is a fundamental step towards more advance capabilities going forward.

As always, we aim to add highly requested usability improvements from the Moldflow Idea Station. This includes the ability to change the Font Size of the results, and the ability to avoid the movement of the position of the valve gate trigger. We also re-introduce the ability open the mesh statistics in a dialogue box.

Not unimportantly, we have included 49 materials in the Moldflow material database that have non-linear mechanical properties. The Moldflow product does not use, this directly, but when the material is used in Helius PFA for Plastics (the non-linear interface to Abaqus and ANSYS), the non-linear material data will automatically be used and will not require the user to enter and fit the data him/her self.

To access the release, log into Autodesk Accounts (please do not use Internet Explorer) (here). Then click on the 'Management' tab near the top. Then ckick on 'Product Enhancements' on the left hand side. You should see new pages with  Moldflow Insight 2017 R2 and Synergy 2017 R2.

Going forward, we will be releasing new versions of Moldflow products quarterly, and we will not be producing bug fixes, but also new functionality. This meant that rather than providing new functionality once per year, we will be providing you with new capabilities throughout the year.

Best regards from the development team.

Great news Hanno,

and I'm curious about that version.

But there is now 2017 R2 for dl available in my account.

But I've seen something different that I need to ask for:

Autodesk - Account - Mozilla Firefox_2016-10-31_17-08-14.png

Is this new?

So I can have Moldflow and Sysnergy on my PC at home (finally trying new features without risking my working PC? Yeah!)

Hope the dl issue can be solved soon...

Best regards

Harald

Hanno,

I have played around with the ability to change CAD surfaces and from what I have seen so far - it works great!  Especially the way is conserves connectivity and adjusts radii/fillets.  It is almost easier than changing in the CAD program.  This should come in very handy.  Thank you and to all who accomplished this.

Thomas,

were did you get the download from?

In my account I just can find 2017 (and I guess that is still 2017 FSC):

Autodesk - Account - Mozilla Firefox_2016-11-01_21-43-37.png

Last time we got an extra DL adress because of several of problems regarding DL.

Funny to say "Don't use IE..." - can anyone at Autodesk imagine that this is a companies regulation just to have this one?

Happy Halloween (Harald is facing a clown...)

Harald,

I went to "here" in Hanno's original message.

I logged into my account.

In the upper right hand corner, click on the little circular icon, click on "account management".

On left side, click on "Product Enhancements" (I think this is the step you need, you will find R2 there).

Hope this helps,

Tom

Thanks for the upadte Hanno  !!

Talking about the inclusion of some CAD modification tools withing the synergy it would have been really helpful to see  a radii / fillet defeature capability as well.

This feature would be quite useful as defeaturing radii and fillets had good utilization during preprocessing.

Regards

Vinay

Dear @raalteh and @harald_goetz and all others,

I have been searching for the new version for several days and I tried to find it on the page 'Produktverbesserungen' (in German, which is 'Product Enhancements'), without success. Today I found at least the documentation of the solver changes.

At another attempt, I thought I could try changing the language of the Autodesk Account page to English instead of German. Then I tried again to access the page 'product enhancements' and voilà there are two additional pages mentioned at the top of the list. One for Insight, the solver (including the downloads for the linux versions), and one for Synergy, the User Interface.

Hi Harald,

I'm sorry, but I think you are looking in the wrong place. Step by step:

1) open a browser like Chrome (NOT Intenet Explorer).

2) go to Autodesk accounts and log in (here)

3) after login in, click on 'Management' near the top of the browser window

4) look at the left handside of the screen and click on 'Product Enhancements'

5) this should get you to a page where you should find Moldflow 2017 R2 products. if you do NOT see this, it means that your login somehow is not connected with a Moldflow product on subscription (but this should normally not be a problem).

I forgot to add the second picture of the page in German, so I put it in now. As you can see, only the Solver Changes are shown.

M.Brussel,

you are right!

Thanks that was the solution.

I assume that all non-english variants might suffer the same?

Btw: I dl all files in the company with Internet Explorer.

What is the main reason not to use it?

Now I'm going to try the new features... see you later...

🙂

Hi Harald,

With my version of IE, I cannot see the list of available content. It does work for me with Chrome. Anyway, good to hear thatyou are up and running now.

And yes, we will have to resolve the visibility for all non-english langages. This should not take more than a few days to resolve.

@prabu_Karunakaran

If you can't find the Product Enhancements (they should be shown in the left pane below 'Quick Links' and above 'Network License Manager'), then you are probably not allowed to do download them. Ask your Contract Manager or Software Coordinator to give you access rights. The procedure is mentioned here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/account-management/subscription-management/users-per...

I quote:

6. Click the check box next to each of the Benefits listed that you wish to assign to the user(s). Click the Save button when finished.

  •  [...]
  • Product Extensions: Allows the download and installation of software through Autodesk Account that adds functionality to or enhances features of software products on the contract. If you wish to control access to additional software downloads, do not assign this benefit.

I hope this helps.

Regards.

The download section in Autodesk Accounts has the 2017 FCS release, NOT the 2017 R2 update. This would clearly be the logical place to put this, but unfortunately we cannot and have to use the Product Update section.

Again, you may have to change your language setting to English to see this, we are working on making this visible to for non-english settings too but it requires working the system a bit.

Hello,

sm_01.jpgsm_02.jpg

I use on my workstation Insight 2017 and 2017 R2 together.
Simulation Job Manager (v. 6.1.33.31) shows both products only for local computer, not for other servers.
Could you help me, how to make available both products also on other servers?

Thanks for answer
