How to Measure Flow Length?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to measure the flow length in Moldflow. I know there's a measure tool, but it only allows for straight line measurements.

Has anyone found a workaround or method to effectively measure the flow length, taking into account the non-linear paths?

Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Once you ran a short simulation on the part, you can create a Path plot (for example Air Traps -> Path Plot) and select some nodes on the part.
This will give you an XY-Plot, where you can find the flow length on the X-Axis.

Hope this helps

Hello @_JoThu_ ,

The method you showed me worked perfectly.
In addition, I found that overlaying the 3D - Path line Plot makes it even easier to pick.

Thanks!

Hi @_JoThu_ ,

Thank you for the workaround.😊
Good idea to use Path plot for a result.
Works for all mesh types.

It is after completed simulation and having results.
Sometimes if would be nice to have a function before running simulation, I think.

Just wanted to highlight Moldflow Ideas:

Flow lenght value
Kudos idea if you agree.
Some room for improvement here, I believe.

Requested some 10 years ago...:
