Changing mold material in PIM mode

Changing mold material in PIM mode

Not applicable

I am trying to simulate a PIM injection in polycarbonate mold using the Fill analysis in Powder Injection Molding (PIM) process mode. Since by default, the mold material in the software is Tool Steel, I am unable to find a setting to change it. I did found a setting to do the same in Thermoplastic Injection Molding in Process Setting, but similar setting for PIM is absent.

Can someone point me to the mold material setting that works in PIM?

Hi,
seems as the option to change Mold material is not available for PIM, Powder Injection Molding.

I assume it is due to only Fill or Fill+Pack analysis sequence and no Cool available.
Hence Mold material does not matter.
And there is no property available for Mold material either.

The mold temperature is set to a single value, all around cavity, not matter mold material.
So this temperature, is what melt will meet and cool down to.

You could change some parameters for Part(3D):
Local heat transfer coefficients: but are initially blank, so you need to look in Analysis Log if those are used.
Mold surface temperature: you can set constant or profile, and different in different areas of part.

Hope this helps somewhat.
Regards,
Berndt
