Absolute Ram Speed Profile - No information about the ram position in the log

Dear all,

I am working on this project where the mold is already produced and we need to change one of the cavities. While trying to replicate the existing process I have used "Absolute Ram Speed Profile" for first phase control.  I do not use this control very often, so this might be my memory failing, but should not be there an extra column in the log stating the current ram position?

You can see in the attached image how the control is set to Ram Speed Profile but no extra column is produced.

Am I missing to activate any option?

Hi @e_calle ,

right, there should be an extra column.

Which mesh type?

Which solver release?

Do you get the result plot : "Ram position : XY plot" result?

(It is actually updated during simultion.)

Regards,

Berndt

Hello @bernor_mf ,

This is a 3D mesh done in Moldflow 2019.

Yes, I can produce that result:

I have only one ram speed, but shouldn't there be some change around the V/P switchover point (25mm)?

Hi @e_calle ,

Well, this is not available in 2019.

Ram position in analysis log and more introduced to 2021 release.

Seems as also for ram speed after V/P switchover.

Moldflow Insight What's New for 2021.0 :

Add Ram Position to Screen Log

This enhancement applies to Fill or Flow analyses with "Absolute ram speed profile" control and contains 2 aspects:

  1. For 3D flow solver, add ram position to screen log for both Filling and Packing phases
  2. For the Midplane and Dual-domain (2.5D) flow solvers, calculate and output ram position to screen log for Packing phase (ram position is already included in screen log for Filling phase in previous releases).

This explains the information you see.

Regards,

Berndt

Hi @bernor_mf ,

Thanks for the information. I kind of remember seeing this in way older versions, but maybe it was in DD or Midplane mesh and only introduced for 3D in 2021.
