Layer with Colour

Layer should same colour as the entity like geometry, Tria Elements, Tetra Elements, Beam elements, Nodes etc.  This will enable the layer option easy to use when multiple CAD geometry like Complete mold or cooling channels imported to study.  If a layer as multiple entities first preference can be given in the order of geometry, Tria Elements, Tetra Elements, Beam elements, Nodes, viceversa.

Interesting idea. 
Could be useful with a color info in the layer symbol shape.
Right, a priority of coloring needed, as you suggest.

Did you try the torch, in layer commands?

Hover over layer will highlight in graphics display.
Selecting in graphics display shows a frame around layer name.

Quite useful when a lot of geometries and layers in the study.
