Good day

I am working with a model that has an internal thread, but when exporting it to moldflow I get distorted 3d, I would like to know if this would give problems to my analysis.

Hi,
when a CAD-geometry is imported to Moldflow Adviser, the geometry is tesselated.
This means creating triangels, like STL triangles, but more appropriate for Moldflow mesher.

This is why you ses the shadowed triangles on your part.

The chorda tolerance of the tesselation is hardcoded, from what I know, and what you see is what you get.

It should be possible to progress with the geometry.
It might not neccearily have issues, even if you see shadowed triangles.

If there are issues in model geometry,
- the mesher and analysis will fail, returning error message.
- or you would see unexpected result, such as low temperatures in areas where it should be fine.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Berndt

Hi,

just wanted to add a comment:

If you want to increase model resolution, in Analysis Wizard, tab Accuracy (a bit hidden, click small right arrow to find it) it can be changed from Level 0 (default) to Level 3 (highest).
This makes smaller mesh elements, and if 3D, more tetra layers through thickness.
Highe level more elements, longer analysis time, using more computer resources.

Have a look at:

Which CAD format is most suitable for getting better simulation result?
