Undo offset, make object thinner

Hi all,

I made a customised splint using Meshmixer, saved it and went back to it. Then wanted to make it thinner but can't undo action as it was previously saved. I tried offset with negative value but does not seem to uniformly reduce the thickness. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You cannot undo an action after closing MM. It is important to create duplicates of the model before you move forward.

You will have to just discard the surface you do not want, then redo the offset.

If you do SelectAll of some source surface and run Edit/Offset on it with a negative Offset value to make the object thinner:

MM constructs an interior shell inside the source surface while keeping the source surface (it's a hollow object now). The source surface hides the interior shell.

As soon as you accepted the Offset tool the interior(offset)-shell is selected > hit I to invert the selection > the exterior is selected now > hit X to discard it so only the interior shell remains.

Now its normals are still pointing to the inside. SelectAll and do Edit/FlipNormals.

Is this what you meant?
