Slicing a model in half to get a bas relief

I have a 3d model in an STL file format.  I want to basically create a sliced view of the model on a flat back ground to get a bas relief type model.  Can this be done in meshmixer?

Several ways... depending on what you've in mind...

To cut an object: EDIT/PlaneCut

To add a base cuboid:  MESHMIX>Primitives>Cube (Scale/Move it to the desired position).

To weld an object to a base cuboid: Activate source object plus base object and do EDIT/BooleanUnion.

or .... or..... or...

More info about your task?

Thanks,  Edit | PlaneCut  did the trick
