“Replace a region of the mesh”. Not sure what do after getting this messge?

I’m just starting to learn MeshMixer and trying to remove a portion of an STL files.  I click and draw a line around what I want removed.  Then I click Edit, Erase and Fill.  After I do that, I see a message on the bottom saying, “Replace a region of the mesh”.  I’m not sure what that means or what I should to doing to move forward.

Any suggestion would be appropriated.

Thank you.

The boxes at the lower center of the scene are just tool tips explaining what the tool is meant for.

In the tool properties you can set the parameters (e.g. Smooth or Flat as Replace/Filltype).

If the preview in the scene fits to your needs: Hit Accept
