Model of a foot, how to flatten the bottom ?

Hi,

i am struggeling with a foot model which i would like to change and print with my 3D Printer as a AFO orthosis.

For this i would have to flatten the bottom of the foot complete to a plane shape (see selection in the screenshot).

But every  tool in MM i tried was not working for this.

I could  blow up the bottom on the outer surface  with tools like soft transform and then plane cut it.

But inside it is still curved the same.

The selected bottom surface should be changed to a flat shape not changing the thikness of the model.

Is this possible somehow ?

Thanks for suggestions ๐Ÿ™‚

Think the easiest way is to discard the inner white group and to keep the blue outer surface only.

Now you can flatten the sole (several ways to do this)

After flattening reconstruct the wall thickness : SelectAll > Edit/Offset

Using plane cut.

Or attract: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxTBTMJvUxw

Or use SELECT/Edit/AttractToTarget (you need a plane target for this as well)

Or use SELECT/Edit/Extrude with Direction set to Y-axis, EndType set to Flat and adjust the Offset

For Extrude and PlaneCut you need to close the hole at the toes using Inspector and remove the infill after the procedure again.
